Modern Slavery & Ethical Labour

Modern slavery & ethical labour

Our commitments on child labour, forced labour, discrimination and freedom of association, and how they apply through our supply chain.

Last updated 7 August 2026·Based on our FSC® Core Labour Requirements policy statement.

AC Timber Solutions Ltd applies the FSC® Core Labour Requirements, giving due consideration to the rights and obligations established by UK national law. We will:

  • not use child labour — we employ nobody under 18 years of age;
  • eliminate all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
  • ensure there is no discrimination in recruitment or ongoing employment, while complying with UK legislation; and
  • respect freedom of association and the effective right to collective bargaining under UK legislation.

This statement is reviewed every two years, or sooner if required, and is made available to our staff, our customers and our FSC-accredited certification body.

Our supply chain

We buy hardwood and specialist softwood from established mills and importers, much of it certified under FSC or PEFC chain of custody. Both schemes carry labour requirements alongside their environmental ones, and our participation in Timber Development UK’s Responsible Purchasing Programme means our purchasing is audited annually and our due diligence has to demonstrate continuous improvement.

Where timber comes from outside those schemes we seek evidence that it was harvested and traded legally, and we do not knowingly trade with any supplier in breach of the Timber Development UK Code of Conduct.

Raising a concern

If you have any concern about labour practices in our business or our supply chain, contact Sean Marriott on 01353 666843 or info@actimber.co.uk. We will look into it.

Status of this statement

Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires a formal slavery and human trafficking statement from businesses with an annual turnover of £36 million or more. We are below that threshold, so this statement is published voluntarily. It is not a section 54 statement and does not claim to be.

Approved on behalf of AC Timber Solutions Ltd by Sean Marriott, Director, on 7 August 2026.
