Who we are, and who these terms are for
AC Timber Solutions Ltd, 54 Lancaster Way Business Park, Witchford, Ely, Cambridgeshire CB6 3NW, company number 06830247, VAT number 970085026. These terms apply where you buy from us as a consumer — that is, for purposes outside a business. If you hold a trade or credit account with us, our trade & credit account terms apply instead.
Quotations and orders
A quotation is an invitation to order rather than an offer, and a contract is formed when we accept your order. Because almost everything we sell is cut or machined to your sizes, we quote each job rather than sell from a fixed price list. A quotation is open for 30 days from the date we send it.
Prices and VAT
Prices shown to you include VAT, and we label them as such. Trade and credit account customers see prices excluding VAT in the trade portal and on trade quotations, which is the convention in the timber trade; those are labelled too, so it is always clear which you are looking at. VAT is charged at the rate in force on the date we invoice.
Cut-to-size and made-to-order goods
Most of what we supply is cut or machined to the sizes you give us. Goods made to your specification cannot be resold, and for that reason the fourteen-day right to change your mind that normally applies to buying at a distance does not apply to them. This does not affect your rights if something is faulty, described wrongly, or not fit for a purpose you told us about.
We machine to a tolerance of 1mm. Once we have started cutting, your cutting list is final — timber cut to your sizes cannot be put back, so please do check it before confirming.
Changing your mind about stock items
Where you have bought a stock item at a distance and it has not been cut or machined for you, you may cancel within fourteen days of receiving it and return it to us. We will refund you within fourteen days of getting the goods back. You pay the cost of returning them unless they were faulty or wrongly supplied.
If something is wrong
Goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you have a short-term right to reject them for a refund within thirty days of delivery, and rights to a repair, replacement or price reduction after that. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
Please check your delivery when it arrives and tell us as soon as you can about shortages or damage — the sooner we hear, the easier it is for us to put right with our carrier. Telling us late does not remove your legal rights.
Timber is a natural material
Colour, grain, figure and moisture content vary between boards and between deliveries, and timber moves as it takes up and gives off moisture. Knots, shakes and colour variation are characteristics of the material rather than faults, and are to be expected in the grades we sell. If moisture content matters to your job, say so when you ask us to quote and we will confirm what we can supply.
Delivery
Delivery is free across our region and there is no minimum order value. We prioritise deliveries by order value, so once an order is ready most go out within two working days and smaller orders are typically with you inside seven. Machined and cut-to-order items carry their own lead time, which we confirm on your quote.
Timber is delivered kerbside by a vehicle that needs reasonable access. Someone should be there to take it in.
Our liability to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We do not limit our liability in any way where it would be unlawful to do so — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer.
Complaints
Please contact us on 01353 666843 or at info@actimber.co.uk and we will do our best to sort it out. If we cannot, these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales.
